Post Shoes (otherwise known as post supports)
The two main types of timber post holder are in-ground (spikes), and surface-mounted (bolt down).
Spikes are suitable for remedial work especially when replacing broken or rotten posts. However, they are manufactured from thin sheet pressed steel and are not always strong enough to withstand the vagaries of our weather. They simply cannot provide the same level of strength and durability as a Heavy Duty Post Shoe.
Speedy Fixings’ Post Shoes are fabricated in our own factory in Colchester, Essex. They are manufactured from fully welded, thick steel, and for long lasting corrosion resistance, available in either hot dip galvanised or stainless steel. We also offer a powder coating service in the colour of your choice.
To prevent the possibility of rotting, the base of the shoe allows for drainage and ensures that the bottom of the post does not come into contact with any surface water.
Most commonly fixed on to a concrete or brickwork base, our post supports come with four bolt holes. If you prefer to cast in the shoes, these holes act as ‘keying points’ to a concrete screed. If you are building a gazebo or pergola on top of a deck we can supply the perfect fixing for the job! Please contact us for advice on fixings.
Because we manufacture these supports ourselves, we can supply any size and make the modifications that your project requires, in a variety of styles or finishes. For more help please contact us, or call 01206 793100.
