What Are Timber Connectors

One of the most important building accessories in the construction industry is timber connectors. Timber connectors are used for increasing the strength of the joints in timber-to-timber and timber-to-steel connections, reducing the number of bolts required. As such, it is of utmost importance for timber connectors to be manufactured from durable materials such as stainless steel or pre-galvanised steel for enhanced strength and extended durability. 

Types Of Timber Connectors

The three most common types of timber connectors are tooth plate connectors, split ring connectors and shear plate connectors. 

Toothed Plate Connectors

Tooth plate timber connectors feature sharp teeth that are hydraulically pressed into the wood, creating a secure hold, and can be single or double-sided. 

Dual-sided toothed plate connectors are generally used in laterally loaded timber-to-timber connections. Whilst single sided toothed timber connectors can be used in laterally loaded steel to-timber connections and demountable timber joints.

Tooth plate connectors are hydraulically pressed into the wood, then secured with the use of powerful bolts, creating a secure hold.

Single Sided Tooth plate timber connectors

The M12 x 50mm Stainless Steel Single-Sided Timber Connector has one set of sharp teeth and a hole on either side for securing with nuts and bolts. It is also available in M12 x 76mm Stainless Steel Single-Sided Timber Connector. 

Our pre-galvanised single-sided timber connectors are durable and corrosion-resistant and are available in three sizes. The  M12 x 50mm Pre-Galvanised Single-Sided Timber Connector, M12 x 63mm Pre-Galvanised Single-Sided Timber Connector and M16 x 76mm Pre-Galvanised Single-Sided Timber Connector. 

Double Sided Tooth Plate Connectors

The Pre-Galvanised Double-Sided Timber Connector is available in a range of sizes, from M12 x 50mm Pre-Galvanised Double-Sided Timber Connector to M24 x 76mm Pre-Galvanised Double-Sided Timber Connector.
