How to use stainless steel straps
Stainless steel restraint straps are made from stainless steel, a metal that is strong, durable and offers great resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel straps are longer lasting than other steel straps, such as galvanised steel restraint straps, and also offer greater resistance to saltwater.
Uses of restraint straps.
Also known as bat straps or tension straps, restraint straps are used for vertical and horizontal restraint. This includes the restraint of floor and roof structures and help when used with cracked and bulging walls.

According to the NHBC Standards, timber and concrete upper floor should have adequate lateral restraint. In some situations, both restraint straps and joist hangers might be required. In these situations, restraint straps should have “adequate packing between the wall and the first joist” and “be fixed on the side, top or bottom, as appropriate to the joist type.”
What about stainless steel straps?
Stainless steel straps are used for the same purposes are standard restraint straps. These are manufactured from A2 stainless steel or A4 stainless steel. A2 stainless steel is the most common type of steel used for general use hardware and fasteners. This type of steel features excellent durability and a good level of corrosion resistance. A4 stainless steel is marine grade steel that offers high chemical resistance, being suitable for coastal areas.
